The round 1 of the T20 World Cup 2021 is nearing its end and the Super 12 round is fast approaching with the first match to be played on 23rd October between Australia and South Africa.
T20 World Cup is the biggest spectacle for all the nations and for the fans to enjoy hard-hitting batting. Teams from all parts of the world will battle for the ultimate supremacy in the T20 format.
The fans and the cricket experts are already busy predicting the future of the tournament, no, not about its existence, but which four teams will make it to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2021.
Former Australia left-arm wrist spin bowler Brad Hogg is one of the many fans and experts who have predicted the four semi-finalists.
Brad Hogg during a show on former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta’s YouTube channel, picked 4 teams that he thinks will make it past the Super 12 round. The Australian shocked everyone as he didn’t picked his home nation to progress through. He picked England and West Indies go past the Super 12 from Group 1 and India and Pakistan from Group 2.
West Indies is one of the most successful team in the T20 International format having won the T20 World Cup twice and the defending champion having defeated England in the final of the T20 World Cup 2016, hosted by India. On the other hand, India and Pakistan both aim for their 2nd success in this format.
The Australian has backed Pakistan to make it through alongside India, even though the group consists of New Zealand and Afganistan and 2 teams coming from Round 1. However, he also opined that Pakistan’s opener against India will be crucial and if they lose to India, they won’t go through.
T20 World Cup 2021 So Far:
The T20 World Cup 2021 has already produced some top quality matches and moments in the Round 1. Scotland shocking Bangladesh to victory, Ireland’s Curtis Campher picking up 4 wickets in 4 balls and Namibia registering their first ever World Cup win against Netherlands.
All these promises an exciting Super 12 round for sure. And it all kicks-off with a double header on the very first day when Australia will take on South Africa and England taking on West Indies later that day.
